BRAKES AND CLUTCHES

BRAKES AND CLUTCHES

Brake is generally the name given to a system used to slow or stop anything in motion or to keep it stationary.

For a healthy and effective braking, the brake power must be higher than the power that originates the movement. Brake systems are parallel to clutches in terms of operating principle. So much so that clutch systems connect a rotating element to another rotating element and equalize their speed. Brake systems stop or slow down the motion by connecting a rotating element to a fixed element. Similar principles are in effect in both systems. In addition to functions related to movement and speed, the presence of braking systems is vital for very basic needs such as lifting or lowering a weight.
